4 Cig unit 1753
A major achievement to date has been the purchase for preservation of class 421/ (4 Cig) unit number 1753. This unit is now the last complete survivor of the initial batch of Phase 1 4 Cigs and 4 Bigs ordered as "Brighton Line Replacement Stock" and delivered in 1965 to replace pre-war stock of Southern Railway origin.
